Cabot senior fullback Zach Launius rushed for 162 yards and four touchdowns on seven carries as the top-ranked Panthers improved to 8-0 on the season with a 49-7 win over West Memphis on Friday at Panther Stadium.
Launius scored on runs of 25, 27, 56 and 7 yards in the victory.
Chris Henry scored on a 52-yard run for the Panthers, which led 35-0 at halftime.
The Panthers scored two second-half touchdowns on a 5-yard run by Jack Whisker and a 3-yard run by Kolton Eads.
West Memphis’ only score came on a pass in the third quarter.
“The kids are taking care of business,” said Cabot coach Mike Malham, who now’s 264 wins — fifth all time in the state of Arkansas. “You can’t take anything for granted because there are upsets every week. These kids seem to be keeping their free on the ground and keeping their heads out of the clouds. We’re playing good on both sides of the ball.”
Cabot will travel to Jonesboro on Friday. Kickoff set for 7 p.m.
Complete coverage of the Cabot’s win over West Memphis will appear in Wednesday’s print edition of the Star-Herald.
