Lonoke County well-represented in All-Star games

The Arkansas high school All-Star games begin next week as top athletes from all over the state converge on Conway to compete in baseball, softball, volleyball and football.

Lonoke county will be sending athletes from Cabot, Lonoke and Carlisle to take part in the games.

Only two sports will be represented by those schools this year. Cabot’s Riley Knudsen will play in the baseball game for the East, while Heath and Keith Pledger from Cabot and Lonoke’s Blake Mack and Carlisle’s Bo Weddle will all play for the East.

Knudsen was the top hitter for Cabot’s baseball team while also manning a strong third base for the Panthers. Knudsen also played in the Central Arkansas All-Star game.

Cabot brothers and linemen, Heath and Keith Pledger will be suiting up for the East on Friday night. Heath played on the offensive line for the Panthers, while Keith usually lined up as a blocking tight end, but sometimes lined up in the backfield as a blocking back.

Carlisle’s Bo Weddle will line up in the backfield and get his share of carries against the West. Weddle rushed for 1,258 yards and 23 touchdowns his senior season and went on to sign with Harding University.

Blake Mack will give the East a big time talent as a receiver. Mack’s superior speed and leaping ability helped earn him a full scholarship to Arkansas State University.
