Lady Panthers rout Sheridan

The first quarter was close, but not so much the rest of the game as the Cabot Lady Panthers took down the Sheridan Lady Yellowjackets 72-43 on Thursday at Panther Arena.

Cabot led just 12-10 after the first quarter, but a big run in the second quarter helped give the Lady Panthers a 35-18 lead by halftime.

The Lady Panthers went on a 19-2 run to open the second quarter, before a three-pointer by Sheridan ended the barrage.

Inside buckets from Alyssa Hamilton and a three by Leighton Taylor highlighted the run. The two Lady Panthers tied for the team lead with 12 points each. Hamilton also led the way with 8 rebounds.

The third quarter wasn’t quite as bad for Sheridan, but Cabot still extended the lead to 58-33 by the fourth quarter. Reserves got to play heavy minutes in the fourth for the Lady Panthers.

Danielle McWilliams was right behind the leaders with 11 points for Cabot. Anna Sullivan came into the game on fire and scored 10 points. McWilliams also led with five steals and five assists.

Lakyn Crumbly had nine points in the win, while CoCo Calhoun added eight. Lily Sinclair scored four points, while Maddie Wilhite and Rachel Allgood added three points each to round out the scoring. Wilhite also added four assists.
