Cabot Lady Panthers basketball player Elliot Taylor it taking her game to the collegiate level.
Taylor recently signed with Lyon College in Batesville. The Scots are members of NAIA Division I and the American Midwest Conference.
Taylor has been playing basketball for 12 years.
“A majority of those years are year round with AAU ball in the summer,” Taylor said. “I’ve been around it my whole life though. My dad was a basketball coach when I was born and both my mom and dad played college ball so it’s in my blood.”
Taylor said she chose Lyon because “it was a perfect fit.”
“It is a school that provides the opportunity for me to excel both athletically and academically,” she said. “I connected with the coaches. They hold a high standard for competitiveness, as well as moral values.”
The Scots just finished an outstanding season. They were 28-5, losing in the first round of the national tournament to Georgetown College, 66-55.
For Taylor, playing college basketball is a dream come true.
“This is what I have been working towards my whole basketball career and I am extremely blessed to have been given this opportunity,” she said. “I couldn’t imagine not playing basketball and now I have four more years.”
Taylor plans to major in pre-med in preparation for medical school.
