Cabot swim teams do well in state meet

The Arkansas State Championship swim meet was held this past weekend, with both the Cabot Lady Panthers and Panthers putting together very respectable showings.

The Lady Panthers finished fifth out of 32 teams with 168 points, and just 12 points away from fourth-place Fayetteville. The large and loaded Bentonville powerhouse won easily with 471 points, more than 200 points ahead of second-place Conway. Pulaski Academy finished third.

Haylee Beckley had one of the best days for the Lady Panthers, finishing third in the 200-yard individual medley and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle.

Jessie Baldwin had a good day as well, taking fourth place in the 100-yard backstroke and seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Samantha Grey gave the Lady Panthers points for a third place finish in the 1-meter dive. Caytee Wright finished 10th in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle sprints.

The relay team had their race in the 200-yard medley, taking third place. Cabot finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 15th in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

On the boys side, the Panthers finished 11th out of 27 teams, despite competing in just half of the events. Bentonville was also the easy winner in the boys championship.

Seth Fox had a solid day in his two races, finishing sixth in the 100-yard backstroke and 12th in the 50-yard freestyle.

Jordan Woodson also competed in two events, competing in the longer races. Woodson finished 11th in the 500-yard freestyle and 15th in the 200-yard medley.

Payton Jones had a Top 10 finish in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in ninth place.

Cabot also competed in the 200-yard medley relay and came away with a seventh-place finish.
