The Cabot Centennial Bank American Legion Junior Red team had a hard time figuring out Bryant’s pitching last week in an 8-1 loss.
Cabot Red had three hits in the loss, with two of those coming from the bat of Wes Brown. Lino Garcia also had a hit in the game, while Braden Jarnigan came around to score on an error in the sixth inning.
Jacob Womack pitched well in relief for Cabot, pitching the final three and a third innings while giving up just one earned run on five hits and a walk. Walks to Chase Harper and Womack helped load the bases for Cabot in the seventh, but Red couldn’t break through and stranded three as the game ended.
Cabot Red’s previous game saw more from the offense, but so did the opposing team in a 16-6 loss at Morrilton.
Morrilton jumped out to an 11-0 lead after the first three innings before Cabot began a comeback in the fourth. Garcia led off the fourth inning with a home run to center for Cabot’s first run of the game. Womack was hit by a pitch, followed by a single from Harper. After a strikeout gave Red two outs, Brown doubled in a run and then scored on a two-run single by Jarnigan. Jarnigan scored Cabot’s fifth run of the inning on a single by Kayde Ridgeway.
Morrilton would later end the game an inning early after three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Garcia led Cabot with a home run, single, two runs and an RBI. Jarnigan had a pair of singles, two RBIs and a run. Josh Kelpine also singled for Cabot Red.
