Cabot’s Launius receives Landers Award

Cabot senior fullback Zach Launius was honored as the 14th recipient of the Landers Award on Monday during a live telecast from Little Rock.

Launius finished with 2,009 yards and 34 touchdowns on 277 rushes on the season, helping the Panthers finish second in Class 7A. He had 179 yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries in the 7A championship game loss to Bentonville.

The award is presented annually by Little Rock car dealer Steve Landers and KATV to the top high school football player in Arkansas as determined by online fan voting.

Other finalists included Joshua Liddell of Dollarway; D.J. Brown of Little Rock Catholic; Deion Tidwell, K.J. Hill and Juan Day of North Little Rock; Jakahari Howell and Kris Oliver of Arkadelphia; Logan Moragne of Little Rock Central; Tarek Beaugard of Benton; Toney Hawkins of Morrilton; Tyler Colquitt of Pulaski Academy; and Ty Storey of Charleston.
