James “Jim” Stephen Reasoner, age 72, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at his home in Clarksville, Arkansas. Jim was born in Russellville, Arkansas, on September 27, 1940.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sybil and Clark Reasoner, and brother, Bill Reasoner.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Melody Conley Reasoner; a daughter, Karen Weiderman, and son-in-law Todd Weiderman, of Castle Rock, WA; sister Ann Cowan of Stockton, CA; cousins: Otho Reasoner Jr. of Pottsville, Jim Reasoner of Delaware, Jennie Reasoner of Santa Fe, NM, Jeanette Worley of Little Rock and Margaret Park of Quitman; brothers-in-law: Mike Achten of Cabot, AR, and Charles Rogers of Monroe, NC; sisters-in-law: Linda Rogers of Prescott, AZ, and Glynda Reasoner of Clarksville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated from Russellville High School in 1958 and attended Arkansas A & M in Monticello and Arkansas Tech in Russellville. In 1995, he retired from the U. S. Corps of Engineers in Portland, Oregon, where he was Chief of Management and Disposal for the N W Pacific Real Estate Division. As a cartographer, he helped map the lands purchased for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, and he was relocation officer for building the Kerr Reservoir in Cary, NC. He also served in the Corps of Engineers’ Real Estate Division in Little Rock, Ft. Smith, and Vicksburg, Mississippi.

In 2001, he established Art Waves Art Guild in Johnson County and served as President until 2010. Jim was a woodworker and photographer. He was a Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow and a member of Clarksville’s First United Methodist Church.

Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Sevier and Fulton Streets in Clarksville. Following the service, the family will remain in the Sanctuary to greet family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Johnson County Dept. of Health Hospice, 1219 S. Rogers, Clarksville, or the American Cancer Society (Johnson County), c/o Leta Willis, P.O. Box 1835, Clarksville, AR, 72830.
