From a few fellow runners of Cabot Country Cruisers memorializing a tragically lost friend, the Sharae Bryant Memorial 5K Run/Walk has just “blown up,” organizer Heather Sanders said. The event is to a fundraiser for the Sharae Bryant’s children; Sharae was killed Dec. 19, 2013.
“It started with just a few of us,” Sanders said. The event was announced on Facebook, “And now we have more than 620 signed up.”
The Run/Walk will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, March 15, at Faith Baptist Church, 301 Bill Foster Memorial Highway (Arkansas Highway 321), Cabot, Sanders said. The route begins behind the church and follows Candlewood Loop.
“There is no registration fee. We will be accepting donations for the children. All proceeds will go to a trust fund for the Bryant children,” Sanders said.
The event has gone virtual and international, Sanders said. “You don’t have to be here. Walk or run where you are, and collect donations for the children. There is a girl in Germany who going to help that way.”
