The 2014 Arkansas Rice Annual Meeting and Trade Show will be held Jan. 30 at Stuttgart in Grand Prairie Center, 2709 U.S. Highway 165, Stuttgart, Ark. The annual meeting is a joint meeting of Arkansas Rice Council and Arkansas Rice Farmers.
The meeting and industry trade show begins 9 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, in Grand Prairie Center at Stuttgart. The meeting will close at noon, and will be followed by the Arkansas Rice Farmers election of a representative to the Board of Directors District 5 position and then an awards luncheon.
Steve “Wildman” Wilson, with Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will be master of ceremonies for the annual meeting.
Ducks Unlimited (DU) CEO Dale Hall is keynote speaker; this year’s theme is “Conservation Matters,” on how rice fields provide critical resting and foraging habitat for migratory ducks.
Other speakers include USA Rice President and CEO Betsy Ward who will tell about USA Rice activities, recent successes, and outline plans to further promote the industry.
Candidates in the District 5, board of directors election are Brandon Parker of Carlisle and Win Coleman of Cord. District 5 includes the counties of Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Pope, Yell, Conway, Perry, Saline, Pulaski, Faulkner, Lonoke, White, Cleburne, Stone and Independence.
An awards luncheon will follow the meeting for all registered guests.
