Remington Arms dominated Lonoke County news in 1969, beginning with the announcement in January of the company choosing the county for the new sporting ammunition plant. This artist’s rendition of the planned facility was released in April 1969. Other benchmarks were the opening of an office at Lonoke, groundbreaking at the site and laying of the cornerstone. The company estimated the plant would bring up to 1,000 jobs to the area.
