Two nonprofits receive grants

Eight nonprofit organizations — including two in Lonoke County — received funds recently through First Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round-up program.

In Lonoke County, CS&Z Volunteer Fire Department and Kohen’s Park Foundation each received $1,500.

The program is funded by first Electric members who enrolled in operation Round-Up and agree to have their electric bill rounded up to the next even dollar amount each month.

That money — more than $638,000 since 1998 — funds nonprofit donations and student scholarships. To sign up or apply for funds, visit www.firstelectric.coop or call 800-489-7405.
