A Cabot woman and a Jacksonville man were killed in separate accidents on Saturday, March 9.
Kayla Bowman, 30, of Cabot, was killed in a collision with a cement truck; Dellet L. Weaver, 46, of Jacksonville was killed in a single-vehicle accident.
According to the Arkansas State Police fatality summary, at about 4:30 a.m., Saturday, Bowman was traveling north on U.S. Highway 67/167, driving a 2005 Ford Escape, when she collided with a cement truck.
The summary notes that Bowman’s vehicle struck the rear of the cement truck and slid under the bumper.
Lonoke County Coroner Mark Thomas pronounced Bowman as dead at 5:53 a.m.
The driver of the cement truck, Larry Wright of Sherwood, was not injured.
The summary described the conditions as clear and dry.
According to another Arkansas State Police fatality summary, Dellet L. Weaver, 46, of Jacksonville, was killed when his vehicle struck a tree.
The accident occurred at about 8:40 a.m., on Fortson Road about a quarter-mile north of Dorsey Road.
Weaver was southbound on Fortson Road, driving a 2007 F-150 pickup, when his vehicle left the roadway. Apparently out of control, the vehicle then crossed two traffic lanes and struck a tree.
Weaver’s body was taken to the Pulaski County Coroner.
