Information given to Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley led deputies to a person wanted on warrants, but who first led deputies on a chase.

According to a sheriff’s office account, on Oct. 4, Staley was given information that Joseph Brackett, 40, named in arrest warrants, was in the area of Gatepost Road, Cabot.

When Staley and investigators arrived at the location, Brackett was seen in a vehicle, riding as a passenger. Staley attempted a traffic stop, but instead the vehicle’s speed increased.

The vehicle followed Arkansas Highway 5 and then traveled into Pulaski County but changed course to return to Lonoke County.

The pursuit continued to the area of Morrison Road and Arkansas Highway 319 where it left the roadway, went into a ditch and struck the embankment. Brackett and the driver, identified as Desirea Boldin, 23, were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

A search of the vehicle produced an estimated 10 ounces of methamphetamine - “ice”, drug paraphernalia, $3,460, and a stolen 9 milimeter automatic.

Staley said that warrants for Brackett and Boldin would be sought for the offenses of: possession with the purpose to deliver; simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms; fleeing and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Boldin was also be charged with assault against an officer, Staley said.
