Bank of Little Rock Mortgage and the Cabot Panthers recognized two Cabot High School students on Friday, Oct. 25, during Cabot’s varsity football game against West Memphis High School.
The students were honored during the halftime presentation as a part of the Real Proud of Real Panthers, which is in its seventh year and sponsored by Bank of Little Rock Mortgage, to recognize hard-working students who are actively involved in their community and extracurricular activities. The students recognized were senior Megan Marshall and junior Molly Guzman.
Megan Marshall is the daughter of Sara and Allen Marshall and keeps up a 3.6 grade point average. She is an active member of the First Baptist Church and is co-captain of the CHS dance team. Megan is also a Universal Dance Association All-American dancer, was voted most improved senior by the dance team and was recognized for her community work by the Kiwanis Club Honors Club.
“Megan is the most positive person I know,” said teacher Leslie Doss. “She is always smiling and willing to work.”
Megan said she is planning to attend Ouachita Baptist University.
Molly Guzman is the daughter of Gillian and Willie Guzman. She has a 3.9 GPA and plays for both the school band and the Arkansas Symphony. With more than 100 hours of community service, Molly has also acted as president of the chess club, made it to state championships for quiz bowl and received the Director’s Award for band.
Molly said she plans on attending college after graduating high school, but has not made a decision where just yet.
During the presentation, Steve Jackson, manager of the Cabot branch of Bank of Little Rock Mortgage, presented each student with an award plaque. He also presented the Cabot Panther Foundation a check for $200 in the names of each student. During this school year, the Cabot branch of Bank of Little Rock Mortgage will contribute $100 for each student honored, culminating in more than $3,000 this year, to the Cabot Panther Foundation to help provide scholarships for students in the Cabot School District.
