New fire station opens

The Cabot Fire Department Honor Guard opens the proceedings marking the opening the city’s newest fire station, No. 2 at the junction of West Mountain Springs Road with Arkansas Highway 5. Fire Chief Phil Robinson remarked that the station would cut response time to the Greystone and Magness Creek areas by up to 10 minutes. “That is a significant amount of time with a fire,” Robinson remarked. Not a ribbon-cutting, but a hose de-coupling, followed by the traditional pushing of a fire truck into the garage, marked the opening Thursday of the city’s newest fire station. Mayor Bill Cypert and Fire Chief Phil Robinson performed the rite to mark the occasion. Photo Ed Galucki
