Mother charged in infant death

Investigation into the death in March of a Lonoke County infant has led to the arrest of the mother.

Lindsey Colbert, 28, of Ward was arrested Tuesday, May 28, on suspicion of manslaughter in the death of her 3-month-old son.

According to a sheriff’s press release, on March 13, 2014, deputies went to 55 Bonnie Blue Lane, Ward, on a report of an unresponsive infant.

Deputies reported that the found the body of a 3-month-old male. In the course of the investigation by the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Department, Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children department and the state Department of Children and Family Services, it was found that the infant died of severe malnutrition.

An arrest warrant was issued for the Colbert.

Colbert was arrested May 27 for manslaughter. She is currently being held at the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Detention without bond until her first appearance in court.
