Time to begin getting ready to register eligible kindergarten students for the Cabot School District 2013-2014 school year. Registration will be held at each elementary school on April 23, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children who will turn 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2013, should be enrolled.
Also, on April 16, Panther Academy of Wellness and Social/Emotional Development (P.A.W.S. Ed.) will sponsor “Preparing Your Child for Kindergarten,” a free informational meeting for parents to learn how to help ease the transition to kindergarten.
For the kindergarten registration, either the child’s Social Security number (bring the SSAN card) or, at the request of the parent or guardian, a nine digit number assigned by the Arkansas Department of Education, will be used as the student identification number.
Any of these records may be used to verify the child’s age: birth certificate; a statement by the local registrar or county recorder certifying the child’s date of birth; an attested baptismal certificate; a passport; an affidavit of the date and place of birth by the child’s parent or guardian; previous school records; or military ID.
Also bring the child’s immunization record.
If unable to register at an elementary school on April 23, registration may be done at the Cabot School District Central Administrative Office (CAO), 602 North Lincoln, beginning on April 29. Kindergarten waivers may also be completed at the CAO.
“Preparing Your Child for Kindergarten” will be a panel discussion with four kindergarten teachers on various topics. Sessions will be held April 16 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the CAO.
Seating is limited, contact Kelly Spencer by phone at 501-843-3363, ext. 1204 or by email to email@example.com. to register.
