Heritage Day at Jacksonville Museum of Military History

Celebrate Arkansas’ military heritage during Heritage Day, Saturday, May 25, at Jacksonville Museum of Military History. Museum hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; there is no admission fee.

Antique military vehicles will be displayed.

Show times for the movie “Injury Slight…Please Advise,” are 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The movie is about how World War II fighter pilot Charles P. Sullivan survived 30 days after crashing in the jungles of New Guinea.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Centennial Bank will be serving hot dogs and hamburgers.

From 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Jeff Meek, senior reporter for the Hot Springs Village Voice newspaper, will discuss his new book “They Answered the Call.” The book contains over 75 World War II stories including a veteran’s experience during a kamikaze attack at Iwo Jima.

“Stuff the Shelves,” donations of nonperishable food items for the LRAFB Airmen’s Food Pantry, will be collected all day. Items needed include: canned foods, flour, sugar, rice, peanut butter, jelly and jam, oatmeal, crackers, cooking oil, Hamburger and/or Tuna Helper, pasta, macaroni and cheese, and all forms of baby supplies especially diapers and wipes.

The museum will be closed Memorial Day.
