Flags to fly at half-mast to honor soldier from Cabot

LITTLE ROCK — State and American flags will be flown at half-staff Saturday in tribute to a soldier from Cabot who died in Afghanistan, Gov. Mike Beebe said Friday.

The governor proclaimed that flags will be lowered to honor Army Sgt. Jason M. Swindle, who died Sept. 20 from injuries he received when he came under enemy fire near Kandahar Province.

Swindle was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, out of Fort Stewart, Ga.

He and his wife, Chelsea Amanda Swindle of Beebe, had one son and another on the way, Beebe said in the proclamation.
