ECA offers home energy makeover

Deadline to apply for the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas Energy Efficiency Makeover is July 15. One home will be selected for an energy efficiency makeover with renovations worth up to $50,000; 16 runners-up will be given ultra-efficient GE Hybrid water heaters. This is the sixth year ECA is offering the makeover.

Applicants must be a member in good standing of an Arkansas electric cooperative, have an all-electric home, complete an entry form, answer questions about their residence, and submit a photograph of their home.

Among the improvements of the full makeover are a high-efficiency heating and cooling system, water heater, windows, insulation, lighting and Energy Star appliances.

In a press release, ECA residential energy marketing manager Bret Curry explained the makeover.

“Our goal is to empower our electric cooperative members with knowledge and resources so they can transform their homes into comfortable and efficient dwellings,” he said.
