Disability training available

The Governor’s Developmental Disabilities Council is accepting parents of children with developmental disabilities and individuals with a developmental disability for free training through the Family Leadership Project.

The training informs and educates about disability-related issues. Some of the topics are the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Medicaid, assistive technology and other issues to better understand what support is available.

Training will be held April 11-12, May 2-3 and June 13-14 at Little Rock.

Some costs may be provided, lodging may be provided and reimbursement according to state per diem for respite; mileage and meals may also be provided.

For more information, or sign up, call Family Services coordinator Teresa Sander at 501-661-2843, or by email to Teresa.sander@arkansas.gov.
