Three Cabot School District students will be among artists featured in the 53rd Young Arkansas Artists (YAA) Exhibition, May 9 - July 27, at the Arkansas Arts Center.

Michelle Peck, 10th grade, Best of Class; Sara Westmoreland, 11th grade, honorable mention; and Sarah Twitchell, 12th grade, honorable mention.

The CHS students will be among the other award winners recognized during a reception set for May 10 at the Arkansas Arts Center.

More than 600 works in a wide variety of categories are entered in YAA each year. Arkansas Art Educators Association members jury about 125 works for the exhibition, with one Best of Class and two honorable mention selected for each grade by a guest juror. A monetary prize goes to each winner’s school to support the arts program in the school.

Selected pieces of the YAA Exhibition become part of the Center’s traveling exhibition program that visits schools and other venues in the state. The artwork will then be displayed at Arkansas Children’s Hospital until 2016.
