Commodity distribution from USDA rescheduled

Distribution of commodities, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), in Lonoke County will be Feb. 19; distribution is managed by Central Arkansas Development Council (CADC).

Distribution will be at: Allport City Hall; Austin City Hall; Cabot Church of Christ, 500 North Second Street, Cabot; Carlisle old city gym; Humnoke City Hall; Lonoke County Fairgrounds; Ward Chamber of Commerce; Woodlawn Community Center; and England Community Center. Identification must be presented to receive commodities.

The food items to be distributed may include apricots, carrots, spaghetti sauce, dehydrated potatoes, pinto beans, and peanut butter.

Eligibility for USDA commodities is based upon 130 percent of federal poverty guidelines: income of a one-person household cannot be more than $14,937 per year; each additional family member increases the limit by $5,226.

Commodities distribution is an equal opportunity program. Federal law and USDA policy prohibit discrimination based upon race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Anyone believing themselves to be a victim of discrimination because of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability should notify, in writing, USDA, Director, Office of Civil Rights, Room 326-W, Whitten Building, 1400 Independence Ave., SW, Washington DC 20250.

CADC is a private nonprofit community action agency. For more information call Evelyn Reed, 501-778-1133.
