Civil War Roundtable meets

The monthly meeting of the Grand Prairie Civil War Roundtable will be 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, at the Lonoke County Museum, 215 South East Front St. (U.S. Highway 70), three blocks east of the Lonoke Depot.

Mark Christ, Arkansas Historic Preservation Program outreach director, will present “General Jo Shelby and the Summer of 1864.” Christ is a 2013 recipient of the Civil War Trust State Preservation Leadership Award; his most recent book, Civil War of Arkansas 1863, was awarded the 2013 Worthen prize by the Central Arkansas Library System.

Open to all, there is no admission fee; everyone is welcome to come for the presentation.

Raffle tickets will be sold for a drawing for one of the Museum’s books. New members are welcome; dues are $20.
