Cabot Public Schools invites the public to step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”
The play is Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, March 9, at 2:30 p.m. at the Cabot High School Theatre. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door or reserved through the box office at 501-259-1176.
The epic fairytale pits Gaston (Josh Glason) and the Beast (Spencer Worth/ Kolby Cole) against each other for the heart of Belle (Jeni Fuller). Belle’s father, Maurice (Ben Brockinton), becomes lost in the woods and discovers an enchanted castle where he meets magical characters: Mrs. Potts (Katelyn Hayes), Chip (Logan Williams/Sam Owen), Lumiere (JP Gairhan), Cogsworth (Andrew Hupp), Babette (Charl Young), the Wardrobe (Judith Beckham), and the Sulton (Autumn Romines). They hope Belle will be the one to break the spell and turn them “Human Again.
Comic relief comes when LaFou (Tanner Johnson) and the Silly Girls (Savannah Woods, Ashton Williams, and Laiken Kaylor) vie for the attention of the handsome Gaston. Chuck Massey, Vocal and Pit Director, directs the live orchestra with the following students: Molly Guzman, Cody Robinson, Tyler Wilson, Trevor Gould, Max Applegate, Daniel Mosqueda, Tyler Kibbe, Jase Lumpkin, Andrea Poland, Ian Neiswender, Hannah Brown, Brian Wyatt. Joe Trusty serves as the Orchestra Rehearsal Director and prepares his Cabot High School Band Students with perfection! The talented Joe Murray is the dynamic pianist bringing with her 50 years of accompaniment expertise.
Making his CHS spring musical debut is Technical Director, John Middleton. Mr. Middleton brings with him Broadway touring experience to light and design a magical set for the audience to adore! Under his direction is the stagecraft crew of Sydney Woodson, Erica Savage, Kenzie Blanchard, Tori Torres, Kayla Henard, Rachel Henard, Kayla Moomy, Taylor Barger, Becca Ellerbee, Sydney Palmer, Clayton Rogers, Echo Clark, Brent Simmons, Tyler Lucas, and Carol Light.
Costume Directors, Kim Marks and Bambi Romines; bring each character to life with their attention to detail. The production boasts Broadway caliber costuming! Missy Woods works as a parent volunteer coordinator, who is accepting musical donations and providing lunch for the 150 students! McKenzie Marks and Tanner Johnson assist as the musical’s Student Directors.
Ashley Tarvin serves as the Director and Choreographer specializing in larger than life dance numbers. Tarvin says, “Beauty and the Beast appeals to everyone! You will see students from all organizations (football, wrestling, dance, forensics, cheer, band, and journalism) join theatre to produce a spectacular show!”
