Woodlawn news

On Thursday, April 24, the Woodlawn Community Center opened its doors at 10:30 a.m. to 20 friends and neighbors.

President Cecelia Anderson opened the program, leading the attendees in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and singing “God Bless America,” accompanied by Anita Weathers on the piano.

Ward Mayor Art Brooke gave the invocation and invited the attendees to remember those in need of prayer.

After group singing and ending with Amazing Grace, the Woodlawn Community Center were pleased to have Darell and Sherie Tullos along with Ricci Brooke to enlighten everyone with their wonderful voices.

Ricci sang: “Blood that gave me strength,” “Take you through the fire again,” and “Count your many blessings.” Darrell sang “Hallelujah Harmony,” “Yodeling for Jesus,” “Well of Grace,” “Just as I am.” Sherrie joined Darrell in singing, “King and Queen (together forever),” she also harmonized with Darrell singing, “Rest in Me,” “Had it not been for Calvary,” “Thank you Lord for your blessings on me,” and their final song was “In the Garden.”

Darrell blessed the food and everyone enjoyed their dinner.

This coming Thursday, May 1, James Baldwin, will be at the Woodlawn Community Center and present a great musical program.

Come and enjoy our special Thursday events at 10070 Arkansas Highway 31 north. Come early for a cup of coffee and bring a dish for potluck.
