Woodlawn News

On Thursday, Oct. 31, the Woodlawn Community Center opened its doors at 10:30 a.m. to 19 friends and neighbors.

Vice president George Wilson invited everyone to join him in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “God Bless America,” accompanied by Anita Weathers on the piano.

George Wilson gave the invocation and invited the attendees to remember those in need of prayer.

The Thursday program opened with song leader Janet Ray, singing “I’ll Fly away.” Following group singing which ended with “Amazing Grace,” we were privileged to welcome Debra Swayne Moore and Shirley McGraw from the Lonoke/Prairie County Regional Library System, who updated us on the Library, and handed out new books.

Sherryl Miller, coordinator of the Lonoke County Museum, introduced “The Ancestor Chart,” for use in tracing family history, perhaps from the Woodlawn area from 1899 or before. She invited everyone to visit and tour the museum.

Thursday, Nov. 7, Lisa Thomas and Fred Staley, will present a program of songs and music.

Everyone is invited to attend the Thursday Woodlawn Community Center events at 10070, Arkansas Highway 31 North.

Come early for a cup of coffee and bring a dish for potluck.
