On Thursday, June 6, the Woodlawn Community Center opened its doors at 10:30 a.m.

Friends and neighbors who attended were: Cecelia Anderson, Dorothy Henry, Doyle Anderson, Mr. Andy Childress, Janet Ray, Bruce Ray, Mary Thate, Shirley Jackson, Cricket Findley, Jackie Maxwell, Anita Weathers, Ray Kittle, Kathy Ball, Ellen Bryant, Sue Grady, Alice King and Brother Fred Dollar.

Cecelia Anderson invited everyone to join her in saying the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

With Anita Weathers at the Piano, everyone enjoyed singing “God Bless America.”

Bruce Ray gave the opening prayer, Praying for our friends and neighbors that are sick and unable to attend. A special prayer of sympathy was said for the families of Frank Cotton and Adell Hill. They will be missed.

Janet Ray, the Woodlawn Community Center’s “Gospel Song Leader,” opened the group singing with “The Last Mile of the Way.” After the group singing several more songs, and ending with “Amazing Grace,” the pastor from New Hope Baptist Church, Brother Fred Dollar, presented an inspirational sermon, with many quotes from the Bible that were uplifting. He ended his sermon with the closing prayer and blessed the food for potluck. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and fellowship.

On Thursday, June 13, the Woodlawn Community Center will enjoy their “gift bag bingo day.” So come and enjoy the Woodlawn Community Center’s special Thursday events at 10070 Arkansas Highway 31 north. Come early for a cup of coffee, and bring a dish for potluck.
