Woodlawn Community Center

On Thursday Sept. 5, the Woodlawn Community Center opened at 10:30 a.m. to 29 friends and neighbors.

Cecelia Anderson invited everyone to join her in the Pledge of Allegiance and, with Anita Weathers piano accompaniment, everyone sang “God Bless America.”

A short business meeting was held. The community center is seeking volunteers to help with upkeep. This past week’s expenses included spraying the building and mowing the lawn. The center pays for maintenance through donations.

George Wilson and his wife paid a surprise visit. George has been in the hospital for some time, and is now at home recovering.

Pastor Fred Dollar from New Hope Baptist Church gave the opening prayer, inviting everyone to remember anyone having surgeries and recovering.

Glenn Pool, composer of beautiful religious songs, sang “Don’t Worry,” “Water, Bottled Water,” “Built on Faith,” “I’ve Never Been This Homesick Before,” “Give Me Sweet Forgiveness” and “The Cost of Living is Going Up, But I’m Even Going Higher,”

Pastor Fred Dollar delivered a short sermon and Glenn Pool sang, “I Just Want to Thank Jesus.” Pastor Dollar closed with prayer and dinner was served.

Thursday, Sept. 12, the Woodlawn Community Center will host bingo. Everyone bring a useful gift to place in a bag for prizes. No money is involved.

You are invited to join us Thursdays at: 10070 Arkansas Highway 31 North, at the Woodlawn Community Center. Come early for a cup of coffee and bring a dish for potluck.
