Jeff & Sheri Easter, one of the most recognizable names in Southern Gospel music, will be appearing at DaySpring Missionary Baptist Church in Ward on Thursday, June 26 at 7 p.m.
“We are looking forward to being there. Sheri and I met in Arkansas, so it is always fun to come back,” Jeff Easter said in a recent phone interview.
DaySpring Missionary Baptist Church is located on the corner of Markham and Church Streets. Formerly known as First Landmark Missionary Baptist, the church has brought some of the top names in gospel music to the area over the past two years.
“We are so excited to come to Ward,” Sheri Easter said. “We’ve been hearing about the great concerts they’ve been having over there. We are blessed to be a part of this.”
For the husband and wife, they both come from musical pedigrees. Jeff is an offspring of the Easter Brothers while Sheri is from the Lewis Family. In 1984, Sheri was singing with her family at a gospel festival in Springdale. Jeff was at the event with the Singing Americans. This proved to be the beginning of what has become a special musical relationship.
“That night changed my life!,” Jeff exclaimed. “Since meeting Sheri, things have never been same. I have been so blessed.”
“God puts all of us in certain places at certain times,” Sheri added. “That is definitely what happened when Jeff and I met.”
Today, Jeff & Sheri Easter tour across the country with their children. For the them, this is joy beyond measure.
“We are so blessed to have our family with us on stage each night,” Jeff said. “It’s a ball. Sheri and I couldn’t ask for things to be better.”
The career of Jeff & Sheri Easter has spawned such gospel hits as “Praise His Name,” “Roses Will Bloom Again” and “Thank You Lord for Your Blessings.”
“We’ve had a great catalog of songs,” Jeff commented. “Everyone has a different favorite. In our concerts, we try to do as many as we can.”
In the last two decades, Southern Gospel music would not be the same without Jeff & Sheri Easter. They have recorded some of the genre’s biggest hits, toured the world as part of Bill Gaither’s Homecoming Concerts and served as an inspiration for countless gospel music lovers.
“There is no way we could have predicted all of the wonderful things that has happened to us in our career,” Sheri stated. “We are so thankful for all of our fans and all of the many things God has done in our lives.”
